MEET THE BAND

The Story of Two Brothers, Their Music, and Bamboo Taxi

Dan and Ben Seffer are Florida natives with Bahamian descent who have been bringing their brand of reggae, rock, funk, and other genres of music to the local scene through bands like Category 5, Blind Fish, The Seffer Brothers Duo, and Caribbean Blue. Growing up between Miami and the Bahamas they developed a unique Caribbean style of guitar and bass playing. Ben is also an accomplished steel pan player. Both brother's are legally blind but watch out, their sense of hearing music is out of this world!

Desiree Ruiz is a native Miamian of Cuban descent. Her heritage and passion for singing defines the essence of what rhythm and the power of music should be. Desiree and Ben toured the Sloppy Joe’s circuit and many other places in Florida and the Bahamas with Wesley B. Wright the former lead guitarist of The Miami Sound Machine in a band called No Regrets. Desiree's hot, soulful vocals-guaranteed to light up the night!

Our drummer Joseph Getz, is a multi-genre percussionist and music educator with a degree in Instrumental Performance from The University of the Arts, where he received the prestigious Drumset Award. Based in Philadelphia for many years, he has performed with numerous bands, played in theater productions with PhillyBloco. Joseph was also a former faculty member at the Conservatory of Music at Perkins Center of the Arts in New Jersey and has served as a Church musician for many years. Now in South Florida he runs Getz Arts LLC and jams with Bamboo Taxi. The heartbeat of the band-Smokin Joe ignites every stage he plays!"

   
Their passion for music and their special blend of rock alternative, reggae, funk, and dance has kept them all in the local music scene for many years. They have developed a loyal following and made strong friendships with everyone they have touched through the sound they create. Their sound reflects all of South Florida, and they're ready to JAM!
